About

A way of living in relationship with reality.

Human beings flourish not through control, but through truthful participation in received reality.

01 — Reality Is

Life begins with what is.

We spend much of our lives trying to make reality conform to what we want it to be. We resist what disappoints us, overlook what does not fit our expectations, and attempt to control what feels uncertain.

But reality is not merely the obstacle through which we must pass to reach the life we want.

It is where life is actually happening.

The Touchstone Way begins by returning our attention to what is already present—to the person before us, the circumstances entrusted to us, the truth we would rather avoid, the possibility we have not yet noticed.

Reality is always speaking. The question is whether we are listening.

02 — The Human Response

We do not merely observe reality. We participate in it.

Seeing clearly is only the beginning.

What we encounter asks something of us. Sometimes it asks us to receive what we did not choose. Sometimes to relinquish what no longer belongs. Sometimes to act. Sometimes to wait.

The Touchstone Way describes this human movement simply:

Listen. Receive. Step.

We listen for what is actually present. We receive reality without first requiring it to become something else. And we take the next faithful step available to us.

Not toward certainty. Not toward control.

Toward truthful participation in the life already before us.

03 — Flourishing

Flourishing is discovered, not manufactured.

Human flourishing is not something we invent. It is discovered as we learn to see, receive, and faithfully participate in the reality already before us.

The Touchstone Way is not a formula for producing predetermined outcomes. It is a way of becoming more capable of encountering life as it actually is—with attention rather than illusion, humility rather than resistance, and agency rather than striving.

Its application may be deeply personal, relational, vocational or organizational because the starting point remains the same:

What is? And what does a faithful relationship with what is look like now?

The Founder

Ted Kerr

The Touchstone Way emerged from Ted Kerr's lifelong interest in a recurring question: why do some people flourish within the realities they encounter while others become diminished by them?

That question has followed him through business, leadership, faith, relationships and the study of historical lives. Over time, those encounters began revealing a common pattern—a way of understanding the relationship between reality and human flourishing.

The Touchstone Way is the language that emerged from that search.
